Street Y2K tests find minor glitches but no millennium bugs
The Securities Industry Association's first set of Wall
Street simulations did throw up some minor connectivity problems but no
major problems were found.

IT meeting eyes Y2K
World Congress on Information Technology meeting in Fairfax,
Virginia, US looked at Y2K from the perspective of smaller nations and
small/medium businesses. (The congress will not meet again before the rollover)

says "yea" to Y2K stock trading holiday, will launch industrywide compliance
test
Securities Industry Association (US) has endores a proposal
to declare 31 Dec 1999 a trading holiday in order to complete year-end
processing before 1 Jan 2000 arrives. They plan to launch an industry-wide
compliance test in March 1999.

group forms Year 2000 center to aid suppliers
The US Automotive Industry Action Group, Southfield,
Michigan, and the big three manufacturers, are setting up a programme to
help their suppliers fix their own systems

26 Aug 97 - Insurance
companies likely to shun millennium bug claims
It is likely that for policies renewed in 1998, year-2000
related costs will be excluded from cover
